BY CP-AFRICA.COMIN BUSINESS

Born and raised in England and of Nigerian parentage, Ola Orekunrin made history when at the age of 21 she became a medical doctor thus becoming one of the youngest medical doctors in England. She started her medical degree at the University of York and passed with flying colours.

She was raised by foster white parents and went to a primary school run by Catholic nuns and her family often struggled to make ends meet. According to her, her foster mother, Dorren was a tremendous influence in shaping her life.

Now at age 26, Orekunrin is founder of The Flying Doctors, the first air ambulance service in West Africa.  [Continue reading this inspiring narrative of black excellence and achievement!]

2nd Baby Born with HIV Cured?

This has been a huge topic lately (especially here in the socal region). The second known case of HIV being completely cured from children who were born with it. The first case was in Mississippi, where a child  was given medication for HIV within hours of being born. After a year of treatment, the child was was found to be free of any signs of HIV and now 3 years old, has been off of medication for over 18 months and is still found to be HIV free.

This new case was a child born in California (around when the first case was reported) and a similar regime of treatment was given. One year later, they were able to report similar results.

The initial Mississippi case raised a lot of questions and critique regarding if the child was even diagnosed correctly and also regarding the ethics of giving such harsh treatments to a child. But this new case is showing good signs for future investigation into this method of curing children with HIV!

Fetal Pacemakers

We have developed a novel micropacemaker to address the critical problem of complete heart block in the fetus.  This condition is a life-threatening emergency in a fetus, and is nearly always fatal if hydrops fetalis develops at a young gestational age. There are currently no effective treatment options in these cases, and attempts to implant an extra-uterine pacemaker with electrodes on the fetal heart have invariably failed due to lead dislodgement from fetal movement.

Researchers at USC have created a fetal pacemaker. There are lots of research like this being done across the U.S. The photograph above shows a surgery from Children’s Cincinnati where they are implanting a pacemaker to a child in utero. This is where I want to be.

Both Israel and Muslim have the God of Abraham as their God, so why do some people say that the God of Islam is different than the God of Israel is they are both the God of Abraham?

simplyheavenlyfood:

Allah is most certainly not the God of Abraham.  Islam gives Allah 99 names, but not one of the names is Father. Jesus, however, called God Father and taught His disciples (meaning “followers”) to pray to God as Father (Matthew 6:9).

How can you be a disciple of Jesus? And how can you come to God as Father? Find out by reading the Scripture passage John 8:31-59 . Yes, go ahead and read now.

From that passage, we find out the following:
• To be a disciple of Jesus, you must hold to His teaching (John 8:31).
• The truth of Jesus’ teaching sets His disciples free (John 8:32).
• Jesus, the Son of God, can set free those who were slaves to sin (John 8:34-36).
• Those who refuse to hear, love, and believe Jesus—the truth—show that they belong to the devil—the father of lies (John 8:42-47).
• Those who keep Jesus’ word have eternal life (John 8:51).
• God glorifies Jesus (John 8:54).
• Abraham looked forward with joy to the coming of Jesus (John 8:56).
• Having existed before Abraham was born, Jesus is the eternal Son of God (John 8:58).

How do you respond? The Jews who heard Jesus responded by trying to stone Jesus, thinking He was guilty of blasphemy. Muslims, too, would say a man claiming to be God would be guilty of “shirk.” But Jesus is not a mere man claiming to be God. He is the Son of God!

The Son of God is the only one who can set you free from slavery to sin. Although the punishment for sin is eternal death in hell, Jesus died on the cross in the place of believing sinners to give them eternal life in heaven (Romans 6:23; John 3:16).

Those who receive Jesus as the Savior from sin and Lord of life become children of God the Father. “He [Jesus] was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God” (John 1:10-13; see also Ephesians 2:1-19).

Jesus is the only way to God the Father in heaven. “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:6).  God bless you!!!  :):)
